Mała Ostra rock – the most beautiful viewpoint in the Sudetes mountains

Mała Ostra – or “Small Sharp” – is the highest summit rock in the Rudawy Janowickie mountains, at an altitude of 935 m, and also constitutes one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Sudetes mountains.

Granite steps, partially carved into the rock and partially laid, fitted with a safety railing, lead up to the stone viewing platform – affording a picturesque vista over almost the entire Rudawy Janowickie and Giant Mountains, as well as the Jelenia Góra Valley.
If the weather is good and the visibility sharp, you can see all the way to the German border, the central Sudetes range of mountains, and – to the north-east – Ślęża Mountain.
The rock itself comprises Variscan granites.
It was made accessible to tourists as a viewpoint in 1886, by RGV.
The following trails lead to the Mała Ostra:
- blue international trail E3
- green trail, from Czarnów
- yellow and red trails, both leading up in parallel from Rozdroże pod Bobrzakiem.
The approach is almost entirely through forest, and it’s worth taking some food and drink with you.
